Noah Cates has had an outstanding year as the Flyers' new rookie forward. Kates has accelerated under head coach John Tortorella and his program on defence first. Torts have repeatedly given high praise and high marks for the rising star.

The 24-year-old forward from Minnesota rose to the ranks this year with the Flyers and was given all kinds of extra duties and responsibilities which he flourished with. This did not go unnoticed by his teammates, and it caught the eye of Flyers star forward Travis Konency.
TK mentioned in an interview with Jordan Hall that Cates has a skill set that reminds him of injured Flyers centerman Sean Couturier.

"Catesy, it's just really, really impressive what he was able to do," Konecny said a little under two weeks ago at his end-of-the-season press conference. "I played with him and I had an opportunity to play, like, half my games with him and just see what he can do. For him to remind me that much of Coots in his first season is impressive."
With all this high praise, it's certainly encouraging for the Flyers organization to see that this forward will have a long and prosperous career with the Flyers and as they build out from their rebuilding phase and acquire more talented players, a player like Cates or continue to flourish.
