With two games left before the NHL's holiday break, the Philadelphia Flyers sit in a more than ideal spot as we are just over 30 games into the 2023 NHL season. In the NHL's latest Power Rankings, the Flyers sit in the top ten as they ride a nine-game point streak into tonight's game against the Nashville Predators.

The Flyers jumped three spots from the previous week's rankings as they currently came in at the eighth spot in the latest list. After a week that saw the Flyers win four of their last five and push their point streak to nine straight games, it's no question the Flyers deserve to be in that top ten.
Point is, the team is firing on all cylinders right now. Defensively, the team has really shined on the penalty kill and both goalies, Carter Hart and Samuel Ersson have done a tremendous job of anchoring that defense.
Offensively, the team capitalizes early on and finds ways to finish. Most recently, Owen Tippett's steal against Jack Hughes is what led to his OT sealing goal against the Devils.

In the locker room, head coach John Tortorella's voice is being heard and the team is buying in. The locker room culture has went from players not knowing if they'll be traded to wearing victory chains and underdog masks after wins.
Another promising sign is that the Flyers have beaten two teams in the top five of the power rankings, the Las Vegas Golden Knights who sit atop the list as they aim to defend their title and the Los Angeles Kings who sit at fourth.
It's early, but the Flyers are earning the respect of the rest of the NHL in 2023 thus far.
