The Philadelphia Flyer stumbled into the All-Star break on the verge of a collapse after a dismal week. From losing five straight to losing Owen Tippett to injury and Carter Hart being involved in a very serious situation, it felt like the Flyers were struggling to keep their heads above water.

After the first few months of the season had Flyers fans thinking Playoffs and proud of how far the team has come. Although Flyers fans should still feel that way as they still sit third in the Metro Division, the question has to be asked; how far could the Flyers fall?
The first thing to look at are the other teams in the Metro Division. Obviously, the Rangers and Hurricanes are in an upper-echelon in that Division and it's pretty obvious they have the stability, star power and veteran experience to make a deep playoff run.

Sitting on the Flyers tails are the New York Islanders and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although the Pens got off to a slow start, the NHL community shouldn't count out Crosby. With the amount of experienced stars on that team its hard to imagine they won't make a push for the postseason after the All-Star break.
The Flyers still have to play the leagues best many times and their schedule does not get easier. They play the Rangers three more times, the Panthers three more times, along with the Bruins, Penguins, Islanders, Lightning, Maple Leafs and the Islanders for a combined 17 games against top teams in the East.
If the Flyers continue on a downward trend, they could very easily go from Playoff contenders to bottom ten in the league.
