After missing over a month of game action battling pneumonia, many were not sure if Flyers 2023 first round pick Matvei Michkov would be able to pick up right where he left off and score at the elite level he was doing with his KHL club. After just two games, it seems that Michkov has quieted that talk with his latest performances.

Just two games back from missing over a month with a respiratory illness, Michkov has seemingly picked up right where he left off and showing he can score at will. In two games, Michkov has recorded four points, with three assists and a goal during the action.

On Saturday, despite a 4-3 loss, Michkov recorded two crucial assists to keep Sochi in the game. With Michkov just getting his rhythm back, he is only going to get better and more comfortable with more games played.
In just his first season in the KHL, Michkov is showing why he's casually being compared to guys like Wayne Gretzky and Evgeni Malkin as he recorded 33 points in 38 games with 14 goals and 19 assists on the year thus far.
