It's not that he's not worth it. From from it. He has accumulated 160 goals,147 assists in 368 NHL games. This past season while playing for the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks he did even better. He had 41 goals, 37 assists with 14 power play goals and 14 assists.
Call him instant offense, and the Sens are looking forward to see what he can do to accelerate their chances of making the playoffs.
The Ottawa club also added a prize free agent in Claude Giroux, along with veteran goalie Cam Talbot to strengthen their club.
It seems that in the preseason, Giroux and DeBrincat have clicked skating together and are now getting to know each other's moves. Having Tim Stutzle centering this powerful line should show some excitement for Sens fans.
DeBrincat is already demonstrating why the Senators acquired him. He has had three preseason goals since joining his new team.
The Sens will have have 12 free agents next season and without counting their salaries, they will have $22.6 million in cap space. The cap limit is due to increase to $83.5 million, which will help in signing players.
One thing is certain, DeBrincat wants to stay in Ottawa and the Senators are glad to have him. Once his new contract details are released, we'll see just how glad they are!
