Every player in the NHL has a role. Some are meant to score goals, make plays and some are meant to fight. Zack MacEwen has clearly shown what his role is on this team. He is one of the toughest guys in the league and continues to show that game in and game out- but is that really all he can provide?

Just signing a one-year deal with the Flyers, Zack MacEwen will have another opportunity to play his game and continue to help this team in a positive way.

With all that being said, a player who shows up every shift and gives it their very best trying to make the best play possible is in need of more time on the ice (TOI). In an awful outcome to a hopefully season, Zack MacEwen was one of the hardest working players and never saw higher than a 3rd line shift. Right now, I think MacEwen earned more minutes last season and even going into this one.

A player that never quits on any shift and has the skill to actually produce some points deserves it. The lack of physical play that was on the team was seen but imagine having a player like MacEwen on a 2nd line shift to throw the body around and open up scoring chances.

Forechecking is an important part of the game and is needed. You get a guy like Zack and when he starts to throw the body around, it will cause players to fluster and lose the puck. Capitalize on the chance and take advantage of turnovers, something the Flyers lacked tremendously last season.

All i am saying is hardworking players deserve the hardworking minutes- give him the chance.
