In 2015, the Philadelphia Flyers selected goalie Matej Tomek out of Slovakia with their third round pick, almost nine years later, the 26-year-old goaltender has signed a contract extension with the Czechia, meaning the Flyers will have to wait another year to see the 6'3 goalie from Slovakia in the orange and black.

On Saturday morning, it was reported that Tomek signed a one-year extension with Litvinov of the Czech Extraliga. After he was drafted by the Flyers in 2015, Tomek struggled in college action which caused him to head overseas in 2019.

Tomek spent just two years at the University of North Dakota, playing in just two games before heading to the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he played just five games putting up a .845 save percentage.

While overseas, Tomek recorded his best season this past year with Litvinov of the Czech Extraliga winning 21 games with a .911 save percentage and a 2.96 GAA.

If Tomek has another stellar season like he did in 2023-24, could he potentially get an opportunity with the Flyers come summer of 2025?
