Friday night is proving to be a big showdown for the Philadelphia Flyers as they travel to the nations capital to take on the Washington Capitals in a massive division showdown as the Capitals are six points behind the Flyers in the standings. The Capitals are scratching and clawing for a wild card playoff spot while the Flyers aim to create space in the division between the Devils, Islanders, and Capitals. Hours before the matchup, the Flyers announced who will be getting the start for the orange and black.

To no surprise, goalie Samuel Ersson will be receiving the start in the net once again, as the Flyers look to build upon their 6-2 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning that saw Ersson stop 20 of 22 shots, impressively shutting down Nikita Kucherov also while the lights were out for a period of time.
Ersson has been electric behind the net for the Flyers since the All-Star break, putting up a 5-2-1 record in eight starts with a .909 save percentage and a 2.39 GAA. As a rookie being thrust into the starting role unexpectedly, Ersson has been a steady hand in what is proving to be a chaotic situation.
Although six points behind the Flyers, Ersson is faced with the ever so difficult task of stopping all-time great Alex Ovechkin who could potentially break the goal scoring in the coming years.
Puck drop is set for 7:00p.m. EST as the Flyers look to begin another win streak in Washington, DC.
