Flyers in driver seat for their playoff chances

The 2023-2024 season is nine games away from concluding and Flyers fans have plenty to be happy about. A team that was pegged to be in the bottom 10 of the league is now on the cusp of locking in their first playoff spot since 2020.

Aside controlling their own fate and not relying on teams to lose, always a great way to make the postseason however, the Flyers also have the schedule behind them to help solidify their chances.

During their final nine games they will be playing the Canadiens twice, Blackhawks, Islanders, Blue Jackets, Sabres, Rangers, Capitals, Devils. Many of these teams are either out of the playoffs or close to it which the Flyers can put them away.



The current standings show the Flyers are nestled in 3rd in the metro but with the Washington Capitals on a recent tear and have vaulted him within one point of the Flyers, it's possible that they could drop to the second wild card spot and remain there as the Devils and the Islanders are well behind them.

At this point in the season all the Flyers need is getting points from every game they play going forward including overtime losses if necessary. According to Moneypuck, the Flyers have an 86.1% chance while DraftKings shows an 80.95% chance.


The Flyers cannot take their position for granted and need to continue to play great hockey while continuing to surprise the league and its fan base.
