The past month has seen roughly four Philadelphia Flyers floated around the NHL in multiple trade rumors as the trade deadline approaches. Before the season, everyone expected the Philadelphia Flyers to be sellers like last season, and continue to load up on picks and assets in what some were considering a rebuilding year. As the Flyers impress the hockey community and sit at third in the Metro Division standings, GM Danny Briere is looking like he will be taking a different approach to the deadline.

Since almost the beginning of the season, Flyers defensemen Sean Walker has been a top target for a number of Eastern Conference contenders, with the Tampa Bay Lightning showing the most interest.
With the Flyers winning and Walker having arguably the best season of his career while also on a relatively cheap contract, the Flyers are now looking to retain their defenseman.
On Monday, it was reported that the Flyers are looking to having talks with Walker about a contract extension, which also surprisingly sparked a loudly negative reaction from Flyers fans on Twitter.
Saturday, it is reported that the Flyers could also be taking a different approach with Walker.
Prominent Flyers reporter as well as James Wilson from NHL Trade Rumors have reported that the Flyers are looking to use Walker as a 'rental' for the remainfer of the season.
"Anthony DiMarco stated that even if the Flyers and Walker can't come to a contract agreement ahead of the deadline, keeping him as an "own rental" could be in the cards."

With the Flyers being in the midst of a playoff push, it makes sense why Briere and the front office are hesitant to move someone who has been a key piece to the Flyers success this season.
