The 2023-2024 NHL season is ending and the Philadelphia Flyers have been one of the most surprising teams in the league. While holding a playoff spot for most of the season, everything appears to be unraveling as their goaltending has been the worst in the league since January 20th.

Ever since the departure of Carter Hart, head coach John Tortorella has relied on a carousel of goaltenders to help carry the team to the end. With Ersson, Sandstrom, Petersen and now Fedotov, Torts is trying to find any sorts of consistency which has yet to materialize.
Sam Ersson seemed to have shown the most promise as he has given the team flashes of brilliance but as of late he has fallen flat with his last five only showing one save percentage at .900 And his worst at .667 on April 1st. This season, he has played 46 games, with a record of 21 dash 16-7 for the goals against of 2.81 and a save percentage of .891 with three shutouts.
It's safe to say it's going to be a photo finish for the Flyers to making the postseason as they currently sit one point ahead of the Washington Capitals for the second wild card spot. The team held a goal differential in the positive range for most of the year, the Flyers are now -19 with the trend going in the wrong direction.
After dropping tonight's contest against the Buffalo Sabres 4-2, they will continue their road trip to meet the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday April 6th. Game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
