Many insiders were uncertain if Elias Pettersson would be remaining with the Canucks since there were rumors that the two could not come to an agreement on a contract extension.
Those rumors can now be put to rest since it was announced this morning that the Canucks and Pettersson have been able to agree on an 8 year contract worth 11.6 millon per year.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Elias Pettersson on an eight-year contract.
If the Canucks ended up trading Pettersson, it would have likely been a big mistake since he is one of the top players in the league and it would have been very difficult to find equivalent compensation. Pettersson has 75 points in 62 games this season with a 12 +/- rating.
