For the past few seasons, it has felt like the Flyers have been in limbo with right wing Travis Konecny. From trade rumors to rumors of being next in line to be named Flyers captain, Konecny has been the center of attention in an organization that is in a rebuild and have moved off of legends in the past few seasons. One NHL insider offered an interesting insight into the future of Travis Konecny.

2024 has been one of, if not the best season of Konecny's career. A 2024 NHL All-Star selection, Konecny has been the heartbeat of the Philadelphia Flyers. 43 points, 23 goals, and 20 assists to go along with being the league's leader in shorthanded goals, Konecny has the Flyers staring at a playoff spot.
As the Flyers begin to lockdown pieces for the future like Owen Tippett and Ryan Poehling, many believe that Travis Konecny is next in line for a contract extension in July, including NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
Must read on FlyersInsider
"Philadelphia can extend Konecny on July 1, but the Flyers are trying to get the deal done sooner. You're going to see a real attempt at this."

Konecny is a Philadelphia fan favorite and deserves a long term deal with the Flyers. He has been a key piece in developing a culture in Philadelphia and being a tone-setter on the ice. Konecny has weathered the storm and has stuck with the organization at its lowest, and he deserves to be rewarded for that.
Aside from Konecny, Friedman offered another interesting development in the upcoming trade deadline, keying in on two Flyers who have been the center of trade talks the past few weeks.
"My prediction is that Nick Seeler stays and that the arrival of Jamie Drysdale puts Sean Walker on the move as Edmonton and Tampa Bay have both shown interest."
