With the trade deadline approaching, the Philadelphia Flyers have been the center of attention it feels like. Not knowing whether the team will be buyers or sellers as they sit in an unexpected playoff spot not only has fans curious, but the entire NHL curious as to how the Flyers will proceed. Wednesday morning the Flyers received unfortunate news regarding one of their top trade pieces.

Along with players like Scott Laughton, Nick Seeler, and Sean Walker, Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has been linked to be the interest of a few teams, including the Canucks and Oilers.
Moments ago, the Flyers learned that Ristolainen has suffered a major injury that will not only keep him off the ice for the forseeable future, but will most likely take him off the table in trade talks.
"Multiple sources confirm that Rasmus Ristolainen's injury is significant and he will be out a minimum of one month. A move ahead of the trade deadline seems unlikely, at this point."

This also proves as devastating news for Ristolainen who has not been performing well and has been scratched a number of games since the All-Star break. With a less-than ideal contract, the future is not looking bright for Ristolainen who has been in decline the past few seasons.
