Legendary Hockey Night in Canada announcer Bob Cole has passed away

News broke this morning that legendary Hockey Night in Canada play-by-play announcer Bob Cole passed away yesterday at the age of 90.

Bob Cole, the play-by-play voice of countless NHL games, dies at 90


Cole began his career calling games on the radio for CBC in 1969 then moved over to television in 1973. From 1980 to 2008, Cole was the play-by-play announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Over the course of those 30 years, Cole also announced multiple Stanley Cup Finals' games.


The legendary announcer also went on to call a game during the 1998 Olympics as well as the gold medal game in 2002 between the United States and Canada. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996 for Broadcasting excellence.

Cole will undoubtably go down in history as one of the game's best announcers of all-time with many incredible moments linked to his name.
