John Tortorella, who has been a head coach in the NHL for more than 20 years and is now 65 years old, could very well be on his last coaching job, however, he still finds ways to win and motivate his team.

The Flyers might be John Tortorella's last stop as a coach, but he's still passionate and has a good narrative/formula for winning
Per Jamey Baskow, John Tortorella recently stated to the media "It always comes down to, Oh, they are going to quit on him," Tortorella said. "It follows me around, and so be it. If a player is going to quit on me or players are going to quit on me because I'm trying to make them better people and better athletes, you have got the wrong damn coach here and you've got the wrong damn people here." Similar sentiments have been stated about Tortorella by others especially when Couturier was benched. However, there is no denying that Tortorella holds all players accountable, no matter who they are or what they have done in the past. He never accepts lack of effort, or missing assignments, etc. We have seen players like Joel Farabee and Bobby Brink get benched and they have seemed to come back playing stronger.
Also, Tortorella stated, "My job is I am going to push athletes. I have other things on my mind that I don't give you. I was in control the other night. What I said I meant. And quite honestly, when I watch the tape now, I'm more concerned than just the second period. Because I'm so proud of the team getting here." Over the last 2 years, we seen John Tortorella push athletes, hold them accountable and after last game, he put the team on blast for their lack of play in the 2nd period, but we also seen him have his players back. We see him defend Kevin Hayes, get thrown out of games to defend his players and stated that Felix Sandstrom was trying the best he could when he was clearly struggling. He most recently stated how proud of this team he is as they are overachieving and now, John Tortorella is going try to help get this overachieving Flyers team into the playoffs.
