After the Calgary Flames sent All-Star Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks, teams in the market for a center began making calls as the center market this deadline is unusually thin. Names like Scott Laughton were floated around, but ultimately Winnipeg landed on Monahan.
Monahan is having a solid season in Montreal thus far, pouring in 35 points on 22 assists and 13 goals. Winnipeg adds a former first round pick in a lineup with Mark Scheifele, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Josh Morrissey as the Jets look to bolster their roster for a deep playoff run.
With Montreal landing two first round picks in exchange for Monahan, the question must be asked; who won this trade?
