Stanley Cup Contender on the verge of Acquiring Flyer Defenseman?

The trade deadline is on March 8th, still more than a month away, however every day we get more and more rumors. We get a clearer picture of who will be available, and which teams will be buyer and which teams will be sellers. The Philadelphia Flyers are a very interesting case this year. Long deemed to be sellers because they are in a rebuilding year and were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league, they have surprised everyone and are currently holding a playoff spot.

GM Danny Briere has ensure they are still in rebuilding mode, and will not be buying at the deadline, however they also will not be trading away players just for the sake of trading. The right deal needs to be there. New reports indicate that the Tampa Bay Lightning may be looking for one of those deals. They have reported interest, among a few other teams as well, in Defenseman Sean Walker. Walker came over from the Kings in the deal that sent Claude Giroux to the Panthers. He has been one of the Flyers best defenseman this year and is in the final year of his contract.

Will Along with Tampa, the Dallas Star are another contender that looks like they will make a run for Sean Walker as they try to improve their defense. Strong defenseman with the puck abilities that Walker has are rare in the NHL, the Flyers will have many suitors for Walker, Tampa and Dallas among them. Will the right deal come along?
