Kevin Hayes tried his hand at baseball while waiting for the new season

Over the past few months, Kevin Hayes's life has undergone a significant change. The former Flyers centerman was traded to the St. Louis Blues during the summer months in exchange for more than just a salary dump.

As the Flyers continue to rebuild their team and reshape the roster, those cap dollars become increasingly important, especially as their young stars will demand more money later on.

Now that Hayes is in St. Louis, he decided to try his hand at baseball and aim for a home run at Busch Stadium, where the St. Louis Cardinals play.

Hayes looked like a natural at the plate when he belted a home run to the right side of the field, after which he walked off the field feeling satisfied.

It remains to be seen how Hayes will fit into his new team. Since the Flyers retained 50% of his cap hit, his new salary counts as 3.5 million against the cap for the next three seasons.

According to dailyfaceoff.com, they have projected him to start the season on the third line. I expect him to slot into their second power-play unit, and even the first if necessary.

He spent four seasons with the Flyers, and during the 2022-2023 season, he played 81 games, scoring eighteen goals with 36 assists for a total of 54 points, but he had a challenging -22 plus/minus rating.
