It's been 45 days since the Flyers fired former general manager Chuck Fletcher and installed Danny Briere as the interim GM. This is pretty standard practice for most teams as they evaluate the interim GM to see if he's fit for the job and will make the decisions properly to help move the team forward.

During his time as interim GM, Briere has made a few small moves in terms of bringing up roster players from The Phantoms during the final games of their season to see if they can make the team next year or get an idea of where they stand.
Well most NHL pundits and people throughout the NHS feel that Briere will be the choice for GM, I get the sense that he may not be a lock as people think.
One thing that I notice is that they have not hired a president of hockey operations as of yet. It's usually custom for the president of hockey OPS to choose his general manager as he sees fit.

I feel it would be a little clumsy of the Flyers to already have a GM named and then bring in their president later. Another interesting factor is that Briere is not part of the choice for president in the decision-making.

I do feel that Briere will be the choice for the general manager it'll be interesting to see how the Flyers manage this new role of president of hockey OPS which will be a job separated from the general managers.
It continues to get more interesting with the Flyers every day.
