The first preseason game showed us quite a few things. The Cates brothers have some serious potential, toughness is back with the Flyers and Felix Sandstrom was the clear favorite for the backup role to Carter Hart. Now to fast forward a few games and everything has changed due to the Flyers being hit with the ever so lingering "Injury Bug". Now decisions must be made.

Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that in Saturday's game against Boston, Felix Sandstrom had to leave due to a lower-body injury.
Sandstrom was going to split the duties in Boston with Troy Grosenick, but Grosenick had to enter earlier than expected. Sandstrom had been viewed as the favorite to start the year as Carter Hart's backup. He had a great first preseason game and showed why he would be the favorite to become the backup. With that being said, if this injury is serious, other options will have to be considered.
If Felix Sandstrom is injured for a significant amount of time, then who will be the backup to Carter Hart?

Samuel Ersson is the clear "next man up" if Sandstrom cannot go. He has proven he can play in the big league as a proficient stand in for a starting goal tender and continues to impress. Even with the loss last night against the Islanders, he saved 21 out of 23 shots and kept the Flyers in the game. Ersson played all 60 minutes of the game and for good reason. Now we do not have an update on the Sandstrom injury, but Ersson would be a nice fill in if Felix can't go.
