For the past few months as the trade deadline gets closer and closer, a number of Flyers players names have been in the mix to be moved. One name features a key Flyers defenseman who has seen a career revival in Philadelphia. Despite being involved in multiple trade talks and experts expecting him to be moved, it now appears the Flyers are going to be making a run at re-signing this defenseman.

Flyers defenseman Sean Walker is on track to have the best season of his career, after coming to the Flyers essentially as a cap dump from the Los Angeles Kings in the offseason. In 56 games, Walker has compiled 20 points on 15 assists and five goals. In Walker's best season in Los Angeles, he had 24 points in 70 games. Certainly exceeding expectations as someone who isn't a first option.
Despite being a name thrown around in trade talks, it is now being reported that the Flyers are going to explore reigning Sean Walker in the offseason to a long term deal.
"I'm told Flyers will look into re-signing Sean Walker as trade deadline approaches. But, are comfortable holding onto Walker & exploring extension after the season. No extension talks have happened between PHI & Walker yet. Just the rare check in."

With Walker being on pace to have the best season of his career and entering his prime, does it make sense to lock up Walker for the long term or do the Flyers have better options?
