Why the Flyers were forced to go with 5D against the Lightning

The Flyers took a massive beating against the Lightning Saturday night in a 7-0 loss.
Before the game, it was reported that the Flyers would only be dressing 5 defensemen since Zamula was out with an illness and Ginning was unable to make it for gametime.
Flyers will go 13F/5D tonight with Zamula out due to illness. Adam Ginning is not in the Phantoms' lineup tonight but is not with the Flyers (otherwise he'd have been an emergency recall today).
The reasoning behind the short lineup seems to have been that Ginning was unable to catch a flight back to the Flyers in-time for puck drop and with Zamula out with an illness, the team had no choice but to only dress 5 D.
Unfortunately this strategy did not work for the Flyers as we all now know the brutal outcome of the game.
