As All-Star festivities are underway in Toronto, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman addressed the media ahead of the 2024 All-Star game and skills competition. Bettman answered questions ranging from NHL expansion to the ongoing investigation of the 2018 WJC Team Canada hockey allegations. Bettman was very honest, open, and clear with his answers which is one positive to take out of a less-than ideal situation.

Bettman made it clear that the NHL has absolutely zero tolerance for situations like the 2018 Team Canada one, and emphasized how embarrassed he, along with the entire league is by it.
«I've used the words abhorrent, horrific, and unacceptable for these acts, and those words continue to apply.»

The NHL and Bettman talked about their work with the investigations, stating that it took a whole year to gather all the evidence and facts regarding the situation before they made any clear decisions.
Bettman was also very clear that there is still a long way to go in the investigation and that they must let the legal process and police investigations play out before making any more comments or decisions regarding the players involved.
