The Arizona Coyotes players were told Friday that the team is relocating to Utah, confirmed by Emily Kaplan. Prior to the Coyotes game against the Edmonton Oliers, the Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong met with the team and told them that the team will be sold to the current owners of the NBA team the Utah Jazz, Ryan and Ashley Smith.

Arizona Coyotes players have been told the team is moving to Utah, according to @FriedgeHNIC
Next week we should expect an announcement of this relocation when the regular season ends. Next season, we will see the Coyotes move to Utah and will play at the Utah Jazz home arena, the Delta Center. The Coyotes' owner Alex Meruelo has been trying to find a new home for the Coyotes, but the NHL decided that they needed to have a better solution. The Coyotes were the Winnipeg Jets originally and the Jets moved to Arizona in 1996 and became the Pheonix Coyotes and played in Arizona ever since. The NHL did not rule out to have a team in the future in Arizona and Alex Meruelo could potentially own that team.
