The NHL trade deadline is a key point in the season for every team in the league. For some teams it means putting the finishing touches on a roster that can deliver a Stanley Cup and for other teams it can mean parting ways with fan-favorites as organizations take the next step in a rebuild. As the Flyers continue to play at a high level, Philadelphia's bench boss gave an interesting perspective on the upcoming deadline.

One massive key to the Flyers success this season has been their ability to develop a culture in the locker room. With players being in and out of the organization the past few seasons, it's been hard to develop that family atmosphere that this years team has.
It seems that the veteran leadership of guys like Travis Konecny, Sean Couturier, and Scott Laughton to pair with the youthful energy of guys like Joel Farabee, Owen Tippett, and Jamie Drysdale, the Flyers have developed a great culture that is poised for a playoff run.
The past few weeks, however, has seen one of the Flyers top leaders involved in trade rumors. With the center market being very slim this deadline, Scott Laughton has been a name thrown around in trade talks as it is reported that the Flyers are looking for a first round pick for Laughton.
After practice on Wednesday, Flyers head coach John Tortorella offered an interesting perspective on the negatives of the trade deadline as it has an impact on the locker room.
"If it's the best thing for the future of our team and building it the proper way, we have to follow through. We have to. The guys know it. I don't think any of the guys - I don't want to speak for them - but I don't think any of the guys who have been out there with our team want to leave. I know Danny, myself, and Jonesy aren't looking to move them. We're not actively saying 'here he is'. But if it works out that it is best for the building of our team, we have to follow through."

With many unsure if the Flyers are going to be buyers or sellers, this quote from Torts does give an interesting perspective that could bring one to assume the Flyers will not be actively selling at the deadline.
