We're just over one month away from one of the most busiest and entertaining days in hockey, the NHL's trade deadline day. This year it's scheduled for March 3rd 2023, but last night we saw the Vancouver Canucks trading away their captain Bo Horvat. Trades could happen at anytime from now till deadline day.

One team that's believed to be very busy as sellers is the Philadelphia Flyers. After another disappointing season the Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher has made it clear when he said "The Flyers are open for business."

Sitting 7th in the Metropolitan Division, its clear Fletcher has a lot of work to do. It sounds like Fletcher could be possibly making a move soon because according to The Athletic's Hockey Insider Frank Seravalli, the New York Rangers have been in talks with Fletcher over acquiring the services of Flyers forward James Van Riemsdyk.

Van Riemsdyk appears to be considered a nice addition as a rental for the playoffs only if the Flyers can retain more than 50% of his salary. The 33 year-old has 17 points in 22 games this season and is a pending ufa. The Rangers already have a solid team so the addition of Van Riemsdyk would definitely be a plus heading into the playoffs.
