Misconceptions on Arizona Coyotes Playing at ASU Mullett Arena

There has been plenty of criticism towards the Arizona Coyotes playing in a college arena named Mullett arena on the Arizona State University campus.

Some misconceptions have been thrown about, and this writer who is from the area, wishes to set the record straight.

There have been tweets like this one which only adds gasoline to the fire.




Now Nick Kypreos didn't state which players were unhappy, or what made them unhappy.

It is true that NHL players are accustomed to the finer things in life. Take the team dressing rooms for instance. This writer has been in the Arizona Coyotes dressing room, and it is first class... or it was since it was at their former home in Gila River arena in Glendale, AZ.

For Kypreos to comment about the players being unhappy about Mullett arena just shows he is not in tune with what the facts are. As one person commented on Kypreos' statement, it shows he may not understand the details.


The reason some players may be upset about the conditions of their dressing room is due to the team needing to use ASU's dressing rooms while a new facility is being completed. The Coyotes owner is paying $20 million for the facility, it will more than meet NHL standards.

It's just for four games and the team must play on the road 20 of their first 24 games to get the facility completed.

The Coyotes will be tenants, and therefore will get second choice to dates games can be played.

All this did was have Kypreos restart relocation rumors and nasty remarks about the team.

Look... the Coyotes will be playing TEMPORARILY in a less than normal size arena for a few years until their new state of the art arena in Tempe is approved and completed.

For those who can't accept that, well... just get over it!

At least let the players play some games there and see what they think. I doubt there will be "rumblings" from them. It's a brand new arena. They will play hockey there. OK?
